Gass and Hope

Gavin Gass and James Hope went into partnership as Gass & Hope, under which name they operated the Annan Brewery from 1830-1836.

Around 1836 the partnership was dissolved, with Gavin continuing to operate from the Annan Brewery, while James built his own brewery next door.

The Annan Brewery was located near the river Annan, which gave it easy access to the Solway Firth for the shipping of its products.
