The Auchterarder Brewery was most probably what had previously been known as the Ruthvenbank Brewery.

The lease of the brewery, along with the brewing utensils, was offered for sale in 1841, at which time it was occupied by Thomsons & Co.

The brewery was most probably at the south end of the field shown in this view, which was the site of what was later the Ruthvenbank Chemical Works.
