David Bernard Rose initially worked for his father, James, before taking the business on after his death. He unsuccessfully applied for a renewal of his licence in 1898, which was instead granted to Margaret Ainslie, whose son Robert traded as Ainslie & Co.

The Nairn Brewery consisted of a small group of buildings on Mill Road, organised around a central courtyard. The brewery was destroyed by fire in 1903 and most of the ground has since been landscaped.
