Breweries and other buildings

John Stocks acquired a mill from William Adam on the Tiel Burn in 1770 and converted it into what became known as the West Bridge Brewery. The brewery passed through the hands of five generations of the Stocks family before being acquired by William Thompson Leishman. After William's death it was converted nto an aerated water factory. The site has since been cleared for a modern housing development.
