James Douglas

The Douglas family owned what became known as the Abbey Gardens Brewery from at least 1823, eventually passing from John to Robert Douglas, and then to James. The brewery was leased to Robert Wilson from about 1855 to at least 1865, and then to Andrew Greig from at least 1869 until 1875, when the site was sold to the St Margaret Hall Company Limited.

What became known as the Abbey Gardens Brewery was in existence from at least 1823 to 1875. The site is now occupied by Dunfermline Central Library.
