Ferguslie Brewery

Business: John Duncan

Location: Paisley

Type: Brewery

The Ferguslie Brewery was located in a complex of buildings on the corner of East Lane and Broomlands owned by a Mrs Steven, which included a tenement of dwellings, bakehouse, brewhouse, shop, and an extensive garden.

John Duncan was the tenant of the brewery from at least 1851, when the property was offered for sale, and 1857 when the brewery was offered to let on its own. The complex was offered for sale again in 1859 and was acquired by Margaret Rankine.

Although the bakehouse was recorded in 1865, the brewhouse appears to have ceased operations. The tenement still stands but the other buildings have been demolished.
